The United States Association for Small Business Entrepreneurship (USASBE) offers its membership for $125 with a discounted rate of $75 for student membership. Entry into USASBE means access to professionals like educators, researchers, policy makers, entrepreneurs and many others who are affiliated with self employment and small businesses. Essentially, it is paid access to experts involved in entrepreneurship with whom you wouldn’t otherwise be able to network and gain their expertise in certain fields.

The idea behind USASBE is that it will constantly provide opportunities for learning so that the field of entrepreneurship grows and advances through the help of experienced educators. It seeks to develop a culture of learning for those who own their own businesses so that they are always aware of ways to grow in their success and help others to do the same. USASBE describes itself as a “community of scholars, entrepreneurship program and center directors,” and basically numerous experts who know all about the best practices and behaviors that make entrepreneurship popular and possible year after year.

USASBE is highly organized and structured with bylaws and Articles of Incorporation which can be viewed from the official site. It has also developed its own pedagogy and teaching techniques that are implemented by an interest group to produce a curriculum and teaching materials. Other groups exist that provide detailed information and best practices within other fields of entrepreneurship, including those involved in the arts, technology, women in business, small business, family business, and venture financing.

Another important feature that is also accessed through the USASBE web site is the Career Center portal where both job seekers and employers can access each other. However, it only seems to focus on entrepreneurship educators for ways to contribute to jobs within USASBE.

USASBE holds an annual conference where entrepreneurship educators and scholars convene to continue learning best practices and program development. It is also an opportunity to present awards and recognitions to those who continue to contribute to the field of entrepreneurial education.
