For realtors, one of several valuable resources to access is the National Association of Realtors. Just as other people in business have sites where they can access useful information, realtors can become part of a large community of professionals in their field.
Members are bound to the National Association of Realtors code of ethics. It holds that realtors are expected to make the best use of land in the interest of the citizens and the nation. IT also holds members responsible for sharing knowledge with their colleagues to work in the best interest of the people. They are expected to behave fairly and speak objectively and not purposely seek out unfair advantages over other realtors.
The National Association of Realtors Convention will be held November 5-8, 2010 in New Orleans. Registration opens May 5, 2010 and updates on the event are available by following Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn for the most current information for anyone who plans to attend. The registration fee of $500 includes refreshments, a small breakfast and lunch as well as seminar materials. The seminar will also give attendees a chance to network and talk to each other about any questions or concerns they want to share and wouldn’t otherwise have the chance to speak to realtors from other cities and states.
National Association of Realtors Seminars are happening August 26 and 27 in Chicago. They recommend that attendees have at least five years of experience in code enforcement because some of the topics covered are instructions on due process, procuring cause, mediation, and writing an ethics decision. Registration for this event is first come first served after February 28, 2010.
A similar organization to NAR is the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals. One of their goals is to help Hispanic families buy their own homes and take part in the American dream. Membership levels for this organization range from $0 for basic participation in the forums an access to the social network. A full member can participate more directly in matters affecting real estate as it pertains to Hispanic people. You can only join through a local chapter, but if one is not available, you can join directly and pay the yearly dues of $99 and choose which chapter will receive the dues. Available this spring is Platinum membership which is by application basis only. Members must be certified by NAHREP’s code of trust. This type of membership gives realtors special placement in a national directory and they are also able to participate directly with policy makers and related events.
A related organization is the National Association of Mortgage Brokers. Membership to this provides professional education opportunities, trainings, updates on current legislation affecting mortgage brokers, and up to date newsletters. It also has members adhere to a code of ethics and provides discounts to select products and services. Additionally, certification programs are available so that all members have access to growing in their profession with the best, most affordable education accessible.
