National Association for Female Executives / NAFE Review

exe_impact7Various resources are available online for women who are starting their own businesses. These websites that are created by women, for women appeal to every background, whether single, married, and with or without kids.

One place is the National Association for Female Executives which holds a luncheon every year to discuss any current issues being faced by women in the workplace. Also discussed are best practices in business and strategies to boost the progress of women in the work place.

NAFE has a website where important women like Betty Spence, Carol Evans, Nancy Intrator, and Paula Damiano update blogs and newsletters in which they share very valuable information about women in business and which companies offer the best opportunities for advancement. They also look at more personal issues that working mothers are facing as they try to balance home life with professional life. These are highly educated, driven, professional women who are providing valuable content to their female readership. Betty Spence, for example, holds a Ph.D. in English Literature and has been president of NAFE since 2001. As an advocate for women, she has a lot to share with NAFE members about what they can do to better themselves and grown in their professional fields.

Joining NAFE comes with several benefits, such as access to updating articles that can be viewed by other members. There are also discounts on major purchases through Whirlpool and Toyota or services for hotel accommodations and travel. Members also gain access to NAFE’s social networks like Facebook where you can post comments and network with other women. This is very valuable access if you’re looking to network with other female professionals as it could give you access to employment information with companies that are known for placing no limits on the professional advancement of women.

Similarly, the National Association of Female Professionals and the National Association of Female Business Owners give women the chance to join as members and gain access to other women, networking closely to learn more about best practices in business as well as receiving information they wouldn’t otherwise receive without membership. Also available are career development tools that help women improve upon their resumés, recommended books on related topics, and opportunities for networking and consulting.
