MD Anderson Cancer Center – Like their motto says “Making cancer history!”  That’s a very interesting and accurate play on words.  I can tell you from first hand experience that what the people at MD Anderson do is nothing short of miraculous.  When you walk the halls at the hospital, every member of the staff smiles at you and treats you with pleasant courtesy.   They sincerely care about the patients and about their families and that caring comes through in everything that they do.  Because they understand the stress and shock that goes with hearing “the C word”, they go out of their way to take remove all ancillary stress.  You wouldn’t believe the things that they do to make the patient’s life and treatment experience as stress free as it can possibly be.

MD Anderson has been responsible for countless strides, treatments and, yes, cures for all types of cancer.  MDA has been rated by US News magazine as one of the top two cancer hospitals in the United States since the ratings began in 1990.  Also, the hospital has been the top cancer hospital in six of the last eight years!  This hospital is truly a place of learning and HOPE.  You can’t help but feel it when you are there.

Make a Wish Foundation – If you’ve ever seen the look on a child’s face when they get their “wish”; you’ll understand this one.  This organization works to fulfill the dreams of children with a life threatening condition or illness.  Sometimes, the fulfillment of a wish is just enough in the child’s life to give them hope to fight on  to recovery.  Sometimes, the wish may be the last special things that the child is able to experience.  Either way, what a noble cause!
